WINDOWS-95 PIONEER ATAPI MINI DRIVER FOR THE DRU-A124X ATAPI CD-ROM DRIVE -------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all rem out the ATAPI_CD.SYS line from CONFIG.SYS Also rem out the MSCDEX.EXE line from AUTOEXEC.BAT Windows-95 does not require these and in fact they can prevent the new atapi mini driver from working at all. Also Windows-95 appears to like its CD-ROM drives attached to the E/IDE secondary port if available. -------------------------------------------------------------------- To Install use the following instructions: 1. Models 'Atapi Miniport Driver' Select [NEXT] 9. Windows can continue installing ................. Select [FINISH] 10. {Remove Flopy from Drive A:} To finish up your new hardware, you ............. Do you want to restart your computer Select [YES] The installation is now complete and when Windows-95 has re-started you should find the CD-ROM icon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In some isolated cases the new driver after being installed does not work. The main cause can be that previous CD-ROM drivers are still resident or being loaded. One remidy is to re-install windows-95 and when asked if a CD-ROM is present DON't check the box and continue as if it is a first installation. This should purge the system of any residual CD-ROM drivers. If doing this from a CD-ROM version of Win-95, you would have had to have the original ATAPI_CD.SYS and MSCDEX.EXE loaded. Make sure to rem or remove these before installing the new Win-95 atapi mini drivers. Using the original drivers Atapi_cd.Sys and Mscdex.Exe you can get the DRU-A124X to work by disabling 32 Bit mode. This will allow Win-95 to be re-installed from within itself. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any problems, contact Pioneer Technical Support (03) 9586-6326
